IR 64 RICE is easier to digest than Basmati rice and is regarded as the healthier option in Southern India. It is a long-grain rice with a gentle nutty flavor and floral fragrance that is popular in rice pilaf and as a side dish for curry. This rice variant is also commonly used to make rice pilaf, a side dish of grains cooked in a flavored stock and flavorings with other ingredients tossed in, such as nuts. All of the hull, bran, and germ are eliminated. The characteristics of IR 64 RICE do not stop with the paddy plants, duration, seasonality, and so on.
